Heat Pump Ready Survey

Our Heat pump surveys are essential for determining whether a property is suitable for a heat pump and for identifying the optimal heat pump and emitter size. The survey process includes:

  • Assessing the property's insulation levels and energy efficiency to ensure that it meets the minimum requirements for heat pump installation, and the Boiler Upgrade Scheme.

  • Conducting a detailed heat loss calculation to determine the optimal size of the heat pump needed for the property.

  • Evaluating the existing heating system, such as radiators or underfloor heating, to check if they are suitably sized for a heat pump. If not, recommendations for upgrades or replacements will be provided.

  • Identifying suitable locations for the heat pump installation, taking into account factors such as noise levels, accessibility, and potential planning permission restrictions.

  • Providing an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating, which is required for government grants and incentives related to heat pumps.

As impartial surveyors, we won't directly recommend specific installers, but we're happy to offer guidance on finding qualified and accredited professionals. Our reports and heat loss calculations, created in accordance with BS EN 12831, can be sent directly to a Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) registered installer of your preference, ensuring a seamless experience as you move forward with your heat pump installation.

We are based in Berkshire and conduct heat pump surveys throughout the south-east of England. Contact us for more information or an instant quote.

What is a Heat Loss Calculation?

A heat loss calculation is a detailed assessment that determines the amount of heat a property loses through its building fabric and ventilation systems. This calculation takes into account the thermal efficiency, or U-values, of the walls, floors, roofs, windows, and doors, as well as the property's geographical location.

Benefits of a Heat Loss Calculation

A heat loss calculation offers several benefits for property owners considering a heat pump installation:

  1. Correct Sizing: Ensures that your heat pump is sized correctly for your property, providing optimal comfort and efficiency.

  2. Energy Savings: A properly sized heat pump can significantly reduce your energy bills and carbon emissions.

  3. Heating System Compatibility: Evaluates your existing heating system and provides recommendations for upgrades or replacements if needed.

  4. Professional Guidance: Our expert surveyors will guide you through the process, helping you make informed decisions about your heat pump installation.

The Survey Process

The heat pump ready survey process involves the following steps:

  1. Property Assessment: Our expert surveyors will visit your property to gather essential data, including measurements of walls, floors, roofs, windows, and doors, as well as their corresponding thermal efficiencies or U-values.

  2. Heat Loss Calculation: Using specialized software, our surveyors will input the collected data to calculate the heat loss for each room and the entire property.

  3. Heating System Evaluation: We will assess your existing heating system, such as radiators or underfloor heating, to determine if they are suitably sized for a heat pump system. If necessary, we'll provide recommendations for upgrades or replacements.

  4. Heat Pump Sizing: Based on the heat loss calculation results, we will help you select the optimal heat pump size for your property, ensuring maximum efficiency and comfort.

  5. Planning Compliance: We will conduct a noise assessment survey and select an appropriate location for the heat pump.
